Henry,

Are you hatching any of them in your Brinsea? If so, How many? I am planning to hatch 12 of my B-Ameracaunas in my Suro-20. Afraid more than that would be too crowded [I have 17 going lock-down tomorrows, unless I have to toss more].

Great hatch you have going!

I have 18 eggs in there! Its a bit crowded but not bad I have been moving them to the brooder right after they fluff up. All of my hatching and the incubation of my most valuable eggs is done in my brinsea. There are 11 LF faverolles and 7 bantam faverolles. I should have tons of hatching going on tommorow! You should be able to do 12 bantams easily. I hatch in egg cartons though so I can fit more.

Well getting close. Lockdown tomorrow (7:00pm) for the 14 frizzled cochin eggs. The silkie eggs and turner will be move to "frankenbator" which looks awful because my cat ate chunks out of it and I put in back together with yellow foam stuff and bits of syrafoam. It's holding temperature remarkable well despite it's ugly exterier. I'm goiing to try hatching in a cartoon so we will see how it goes. I'm really hoping for something to hatch for my first time.

Well hopefully there will be good news in a few days,
Kudos to everyone with beautiful babies.

Henry,

I hatch in cartons as well. can do 12, 18 or 24 as I have a source for 36 egg flats. OK, going to hatch ALL of my precious B-Ameracaunas in the Suro! Will put the LF eggs - 'store bought' and my friends LF eggs will go in the hatcher.

Oh I forgot to ask, anyone want to see pics of two unborn chicks? . . . Because that's what I got on Feb. 15th, my original due date for them to hatch. . . After I broke them open and saw that they died during the temp spike, I didn't even both to post updates. Stupid Little Giant!!

I could've had partially laced yellow chickies running around right now!

Tues. is day 18 for me. Have 22 good eggs at 14 day candling. I will candle on the 18th to be sure.
I hope to have a good hatch rate this time as eggs are not shipped. I hope the next shipped eggs I get hatch better then the last, but I love my BLRWs that I did get to hatch. All the hatching is great! I wish everyone with ones that did not make it better hatches from now on. Good luck to all still hatching and way to go on the new chicks!

Eggs starting to pip and lots of cheeping going on in the bator.
Have not been able to sleep much at all the last week but
at least tonight I can sit here in my chair and watch eggs hatch I
guess.
Nice pics of chicks that have hatched so far and continued good
luck to all hatching.

Lockdown this evening and am already fighting to get the RH up in the

Sorry to hear about your unborn chicks. I lost 16 out of 22 last go-round, but it was due to a 73-hour power outage due to the snowstorm we had a couple weeks ago.

I also have a Little Giant incubator and set 21 more eggs on the 20th. My husband and son added a CPU fan to my incubator last night, which has made it MUCH easier to regulate temps and humidity, so you might want to think about doing that to yours. I wish I had done it a long time ago! I'm also planning on having them add a fan to my other LG incubator, since I use that one as the hatcher. I figure we have the old computer parts laying around, so we may as well put them to good use.

Better luck on your future hatches!

Well, I put 3 BCM eggs in lockdown Saturday. Temps were right around 100 F and humidity was at 67% ( it was at 61% when I took the picture earlier). Incubation temps averaged at 99.9 F and humidity was right around 44%.

Before I went to bed Sunday, I shined a flashlight in the 'bator to check temps/humidity, and egg number 5 (the bottom one) peeped at me!

I came home yesterday from work (day 20), and this is what was waiting for me:

Egg #1 pipped!

Came back from the grocery store a couple hours later:

Egg #5 pipped (upper right hand corner).

Four hours later:

Number 5 was apparently in a hurry. (S)He as been giving me fits all night, because it kept climbing onto the sponges and bumping into the heating elements

, so I was forced to open the 'bator several times to make readjustments (did it as quickly as possible - I hope - and didn't affect the humidity much).

Also, egg #1 must have pipped too early, because the membrane was white (dried-out).

So I went into emergency mode, spritzed the egg with water at regular intervals, and jacked the humidity to 80% (more sponges, and filled the bottom wells to literal overflow (it's a cheap cabinet, I can always buy another!

). Thankfully my efforts paid off:

Egg #2 still hasn't pipped, but I keep seeing it wobble (it's siblings must be encouraging it to get a move on), so I keep hoping; after all today is only day 21.

So far:

I just wish they'd stop sleeping on the sponges so they'd dry out.
