My little guy is much better now (I say guy because if he's a hen she's gonna have one heck of a comb!). He's not very happy because I took the sponges out of the 'bator. However there's a warm brooder aquarium waiting for them once he dries.
The sponges were taken out because the third egg was a quitter. I took it out to candle and it was warm, not hot like it should be if there was a chick inside. When I candled, the egg was striated; air cell, clear spot, dark mass. When I broke it open, there was a embryo inside that probably died the last time I candled (day 14). So it's just the two - until I get the dozen eggs TurtleFeathers is sending me ( a mix of various bantams - Silkies, Cochins, Seramas, Easter Eggers, Lions, Tigers, and Bears, OH MY!).
I'll also throw in my Polish bantam's wind egg, which is almost standard size, just to see what happens. If she manages to lay another one before I reset the brooder, I'll throw that it in too.
Try, try again.
