(S)He has stopped bleeding and seems to be okay, but I'm gonna watch it like the proverbial hawk. And I'm either getting corn starch or Styptic the next time I go to the store (thought I had a full box of CS; now I know better to check beforehand).

You can try giving it nutridrench to help the little guy. It is supposed to help them with energy and all natural product for vitamins and minerals that starts working with in 30min. I got mine from tractor supply, but you can call the company and get more info on where to get it if you aren't close to a tractor supply. Made by BovidrLabs. http://www.bovidr.com/
Hope
that helps if you need it.

We have action! Two of our four remaining eggs pipped while I was at work this morning. The kids have been texting me all morning. Oh the agony of suspense!

Beautiful chicks SBARAB. I really would like to get some BCM myself. Maybe a few EEs too.

I am still hatching. They started on day 22 and now we're at the beginning of day 24. One is still trying to hatch and has a large hole in her shell.

This little beauty hatched very early this AM.

My little guy is much better now (I say guy because if he's a hen she's gonna have one heck of a comb!). He's not very happy because I took the sponges out of the 'bator. However there's a warm brooder aquarium waiting for them once he dries.

The sponges were taken out because the third egg was a quitter. I took it out to candle and it was warm, not hot like it should be if there was a chick inside. When I candled, the egg was striated; air cell, clear spot, dark mass. When I broke it open, there was a embryo inside that probably died the last time I candled (day 14). So it's just the two - until I get the dozen eggs TurtleFeathers is sending me ( a mix of various bantams - Silkies, Cochins, Seramas, Easter Eggers, Lions, Tigers, and Bears, OH MY!).

I'll also throw in my Polish bantam's wind egg, which is almost standard size, just to see what happens. If she manages to lay another one before I reset the brooder, I'll throw that it in too.

Try, try again.

Wow. So many great pictures. Today was lock down. I wish I heard a peep or saw some wiggling. I think the next few days will be hard. Reading all the great success story makes me feel better but I'm still nervous. I know I have corn starch just in case and will look for some Styptic powder tonight. If this works I will be hooked.
