Okay, 8 went into lockdown yesterday morning. Amazingly, the temp and the humidity have not waivered.

Well my February hatch went great!

I had 2 welsumer, 2 sizzles, and 2 cukoo marans the welsumers were both blanks but the others all hatched!

so I consider that 100% hatch rate. there was some tense times we ran out of propane so the heat went out over night but they stayed at 97 degrees so that wasnt bad, what was scary was 3 temp spikes up to 110 I dont know how long they were at the temp when I found it but they all made it anyways they piped out on sunday night and all hatched through out the day on monday

P.S. this was in a new homemade incubator too.

Well this part of the February hatch is over for me now. Hatched 50 out of 56.
Lost 1 after it pipped on the 1st day and the last 5 were goners. 1 looked
like a rotten egg and after no sounds or movements in the last 5 eggs I
started easing them open only to find what seemed to be 5 that drowned
and never pipped through.
I can live with 50 out of 56 I guess though I hate losing even 1 chick.
I put eggs in that I had bred to get a few sex links out of and ended up with only 3 males and
14 females.Got very lucky there.
Have 49 cuckoo marans to lockdown tomorrow for a hatch this weekend and after that the 2
sportsman will be empty for a few days at least. ( Found a local guy with two cabinet incubators for 300.00 and 350.00
I am so tempted now.)

well its the end of day 21 and nothing has happened

does any one know if silkies take alittle longer? i had good movement on day 18 before lockdown. i'm not sure but i thought i saw one egg wiggle but it could have just been wishful thinking. this hatch has been uneventful no temp spikes no humidity problems i'm worried i just want some activity so i can quit stressing about everything thats not going on.

Ok eggs are locked down now - 10 eggs look PERFECT!!! I had to toss one with a blood ring and two that just didn't develop enough!

Just did something very bad! I started with 70 eggs in the bator on 2/6. At lockdown we now have 17. WELL, I figured that since we started with 70 and now only have the "potential" for 17 at most and DH was good with the 70 eggs, he should be fine if I just ordered 15 Sussex, 5 Brahmas & 5 Australorps from Mt Healthy, right?

Now, the eggs are supposed to hatch this weekend so if the chicks I ordered are shipped on the 28th they will be exactly the same age and blend right in.

I just candled at Day 8 and all three Salmon Faverolles are viable as well as all four Golden Copper Marans! These are shipped eggs from pasofinofarms. I am offering the Salmon Favs to the family that bought my pair. Since my Icelandics arrived I have decided to not have any other roosters on the premises to avoid crossbreeding. I hate to see the Favs go but they are going to a good family with an interest in preservation of the breed. I am hoping to get one pullet from the Golden Copper Marans.

Lockdown was tonight, 9 eggs all good to go. Plus 12 coming Friday from Ideal. Yeah chicks, can't wait.

I have 8 super fluffy beautiful LF faverolles chicks and 3 bantam faverolles chicks hatched out.
