So today, I set some eggs, due to hatch on the 1st of February. Last year a BYC user by the name of Save the favs used to do a monthly hatch a long, which was a really good way to keep communication and connection between us hatch-o-holics, and my hatching craze/season begins now. Anyone else aboard? Anyone due to have chicks/ducklings/etc from the first to last day of February are welcome to join!

I myself am setting 10 Shamo eggs and 10 Black Copper Marans x Shamo eggs today. The BCM x Shamo will be one of our two meat bird projects. Black Copper Marans are a relatively quick growing, large breed, and Shamos are a well muscled, tall breed - The two crossed will make for a well muscled hybrid that looks much like a Cornish.

What do YOU have in your incubator or under your broody, and when are they DUE?

I'm in!

I am setting 48 (if they survive the post office) black ostrolorps & 8 black wellsummers.

They arrive this week - should be shipped today!

By the way - those are some ugly chickens! all skinny & tall! Ha - no offense meant. Just one of the strangest I've seen recently.

None taken. A lot of people don't like Oriental Gamefowl. They'll get much more meaty looking than they are now though. They're young and slow growers. At adulthood, they are extremely muscled, more so than production laying breeds. The thing that makes them seem skinny is their tall stature and "hard feathers." (Hard feathers are feathers firmly pressed against the skin, instead of loose, soft, and fluffy looking)

cool ill have some hatch in feb i hope after the batch that i currently have in the bator is out

ill have phoenix, orps, and some mixes!!!

Those 'tall' chickens are so crazy looking they are adorable.

I won't make the Feb 01 hatch date, but I just bought my first incubator and now I'm looking for some fertile eggs in TN that I can pick up (very afraid of shipping as I am not home until 7pm at night and they will freeze if left on my doorstep).

I'm shooting for a Feb. 14th hatch date ... easy I better hurry and find some eggs.

Now if all this snow will go away for a bit so they can be shipped to me (praying they survive shipping)!
