I went to bed at 10pm last night and egg #7 had a small pip. I awoke at 5am to dh telling me I had a chick but he thought it was dead. I quickly went to check and the little girl was just resting. I began talking to her and she stood and began to peep at me. What a crazy man for telling me she was dead. Only 7 hours from pip to hatch!
Still only one hatched but 7 pips......I guess it is a good thing I have to go to work or else I would be fogging up the windows of the bator breathing on it so closely.....! I want them to hatch out NOW! I don't want them to have to struggle.....I know.....don't look....don't touch.....this is the hardest thing I have done in a long time....waiting!!!!!!!!
ALRIGHT...one hatched last night we think it could be a buff silkie from our own stock and this morning an Ameraucana from Rockin Paints and he jumped over the little hatching trays i have to be with the other little chick...many more to go and officially 21 days is tonite so should hopefully have lots of little fuzzy peeps by tomorrow afternoon..keep my fingers crossed. Only thing i dont like about my sportsman is you cant see in the hatch part to well maybe an acrylic door would be better or a separate hatcher like my Brinsea...hmmm
Congrats!!!! to every one with little chicky pips and hatching - I'm exciting just reading your stories so PLEASE keep them coming. And pictures too.
Its day #20 for my 8 eggs that made it to lock down .BUT I hear nothing no peeps .. seeing the temp went to 106 for a few hours after lockdown I know I might not have any hatches. But I do have 'a little' hope still anyway. Guess I'll know either way by sunday - Day #22. I will learn from my mistake and do better next time. *sigh*
