Still waiting due on Monday but there is no way I can see under those broodys, can anyone tell me when to stop taking them off the nest to poop ,I asked already but no one answered !!!!!

FIRST BABY HATCHED!!!! Just 8 hours after he pipped, the first little NH baby hatched!!!! Only 27 eggs to go...this is going to be a long process! He is already bouncing along over top of the other eggs! I now understand what you said about them playing soccer with their siblings!!! Whew...this is exciting and exhausting!!

I'm gettin kinda worried. I've never had eggs shipped before. But I got an order of Lavender Orpingtons from a BYCer and it's not looking very hopeful. They arrived in perfect condition and the temps weren't bad.But I was pulling some eggs out to go in the hatcher so I thought I'd grab an egg or two and do a quick candling.Didn't seem to be developing. So I candled a couple more and none seemed to be starting...

This may end my ordering eggs. I have a couple other sets coming so hopefully I have better luck. Hubby got some jumbo Bobs off Ebay and only about 10 out of 50 didn't start... His first order eggs.... dang him,,,

I have 2 dozen dominiques and a dozen bantam welsummers in the incubator now. I look forward to the hatch a long and sharing pics and our progress throughout. I candled today and I have 6 bad out of the 2 dozen that I candled. So not too bad I guess.

Hi!
When you know they are 2-3 days away from hatching under your broody is when I just leave it up to her and stop shooing her off. My eggs are due to hatch either tomorrow/Sat depending on if you count the day you set them?? Last time it took about 24 hours for them all to come out. Anyway, my hen stopped popping off the nest on Tuesday night (once I "trained her" she would come off in the am when I feed and then at night to get some scratch), started a more serious growl when I checked on her, and so I figured she knows best in there all hunkered down. I just put some food and treats where she can lean over and get at them...
