If you are only gone within 2 days after they hatch, and there's airflow going through, plus adequate humidity during that time, you're fine. Chicks can go without food or water for a max 2 days.

UPDATE: turned the eggs, and noticed that about 2 minutes later a good portion of the eggs started rocking.

They go into LOCKDOWN tomorrow at 6pm!! I am so egg-sited!!!

Seriously, though, I can't wait to see how many hatch from these 2 groups(espescially from the 2 week basement stay group!). I will candle them all tomorrow just before lockdown to look for signs of movement. 18 of the 33 remaining are pale green or olive green.... so it will be more difficult, but should see something.

Well I've definitely got the bug...I'm setting more eggs tonight for February Hatch-A-Long Round 2.

Round 1 totals are 13/19 Ameraucanas and 3/15 BLRW. Round 2 is 27 local BLRW eggs from cpartist!

ok so I got home to 7 chicks running around and one partly out and 5 more eggs pipped...I am worried about the one partly out - she is not zipping but just pushed part of the shell off... oh and I think one egg is a stinker in there...

HI well it isnt a buff silkie but a little chinese new year nankin...you would think a silkie would honor its heritage being chinese..lol...still only one ameraucana hope the cold shipping weather didnt hurt the eggs...but maybe in the morning i will see some more action...have 2 more little striped peeps think they might be partridge silkies....very eggciting to find the little ones..what kind of incubator do you have....good luck with the Ameraucanas....Chikincrazee

I just locked down 18 more key west eggs and 6 more blue x bl copper marans eggs. I had one unhatched egg from the last batch that was dated 1-13 that I went ahead and left in when I added these eggs. My total was 11/17 for the last batch, unless that last egg decides to hatch.

I think this is gonna be it for awhile, until I actually have some breeding pens set up for my marans. I am itching to hatch out some golden cuckoos, blk coppers, and wheatens. Hopefully, I will have them ready to go for the Easter hatch.
