As of this morning, day 22, we have 6 eggs un-pipped. We had two babies get stuck yesterday & had started to "shrink wrap", so we had to open the door a few times to save them. We were only able to save one of them as it was.

We have four babies that appear to be healthy--3 sebrights and 1 very special chickie, a wonderful breed called the "Ihavenoidea". It came from a brown egg. We pulled it from a nest that several of Linda's hens uses, so it coulda been almost anybody that laid the egg.

We had a hard time keeping the humidity up during lockdown, but this was our first hatch & we learned what worked and what didn't work, so we are better prepared for our next hatch. Next time, we are going to follow everyone's advice on here and use a sponge for the humidity instead the washcloths and bowls and the maxipad we used this time. Truthfully, I used a really good quality maxipad, and I think it absorbed a lot of moisture because when I took it out of the bator this morning, it was about FOUR TIMES the size it was when I put it in!

I line the bottom of mine with paper towels put water in the channels and wet the paper towel. When the humidity drops just squirt water on the towel again. I use aquarium tubing and a syringe. Run the tubing through one of the vent holes and then you dont have to open the bator to add water. Also with the tubing you can run it to wher you need to add the water

My incubator doesn't have a ventilation hole. It has an intake fan and vent in the back (it's an ExoTerra). I need to find a way to get moisture into the incubator without having to open the door. We tried the paper towels and moved to a washcloth when the humidity only came from 40% to 47% after 4 hours with six fully-saturated paper towels. We're using a sponge next time and hopefully, that'll be that.

Warming up my friend's LG right now. I'm moving my 7 BCM eggs to the LC for Lockdown tomorrow night. I've had such great luck so far with my super-old Brower, so I'm a bit nervous.

Any advice for lockdown in a still-air LG??? Thanks!
