Febuary hatch a long

I do not blame you and I always do too, but for this hatch It is good to post pictures for those who have not hatched very long.

I am not afraid of opening them though but I have no need to crack them usually!

im afraid of accidently cracking a live one, the embryo touching me, etc. Its good to post pix though so people know what to look for.

Thanks for posting the pics. Mine kind of looked like your second picture. Is that a little embryo I see in the middle there? I just still can't shake the feeling that I killed that future chick. Now I'm worried about my staggered hatch. I've never done that before.

Yes it is a embryo.

You should be fine on a staggered hatch, I do it once in a while and it works fine.

OK looks like I've gotten 9 out of 11 RIR eggs hatched. Going to let them dry out until this afternoon. Then place in my brooded. Still have one more egg left. No sign of piping. Going to give until Saturday. Got to clean up my LG and get my 3 Welsh Harlequins eggs back in. They are due the 18th. Any way here's a chick eyes view of inside incubator.

Candled eggs - out of the 24 that I started with I culled 16. Some were clear, some had blood rings, and the rest had some sort of development. Still have 8 that appear to be still developing.

I'm surprised that I have that many left, since they were shipped and it was extremely cold (night time temps were -20),

Sorry so many were not good, Hope the rest of them hatch Good luck.

Shipped eggs are very touchy. I have had batches where none developed, and batches where got from 1 on up. Percentage on hatching shipped eggs is not very good, but I still buy them off and on as getting the breeds I want is worth it.

I'm pretty sure that all mine are dead. I can't see air pockets in any of them. The blue one still seems to be developing but the air sac is at the bottom and not the top, which I don't understand. The three brown ones seem to be not developing. I can't really see much inside them at all.

Wow i just candled my 9-8 day old eggs from my broody partridge hen and they all seemed okay. Veins , little ball (assuming thats the embryo) and i even saw some sort of moving in one. :) here she is
