Febuary hatch a long

Well, lockdown started last night. If all goes well I should have 3 fluffy butts by Friday night. I'm a little concerned about their air sacs. They seem much too small for the 18th day but the humidity hasn't been too high, roughly 45 throughout the entire incubation. Hopefully they all make it.....

Fingers crossed for you, good luck.

Day 14 here 27 eggs remain .... Candled and traced the air cells...All look great, babies filling the shell like they should, Decided to finish this hatch using the dry hatch method...Humidity now at 36-38%, temps holding at 101.1-102.4.... Going to have to keep a close eye on it, at this stage babies can generate their own heat which may play havoc with the incubator temps.... Looking forward to a bunch of fuzzy butts next week!

Good luck! Hope all goes well for you next week.

I think I may need intervention......

Went to the feed store today and they had discounted chicks, 2 weeks old...apparently they aren't selling them fast enough and they go another shipment in so..... I now have Cuckoo Marans, Buff Orpingtons, RIR, White Leghorns, and Barred Rocks ........75 cents each!!! sooooo before my 27 eggs even hatch next week I have 27 more chicks

Yep, I think DH may divorce me

THEY HATCHED THEY HATCHED!!! Well one did. One of my silkie chicks hatched and another is hatching as im posting this. Yes. What color is it . The dad is a light splash and mom is a dark partridge both silkies.

I'm hopping in sort of late in the game. I had a dozen eggs under my broody, 5 were duds and she broke 5 when she spazed out a decided not to hatch her eggs. The remaining two are safely incubating in a diy aquarium incubator, looking great and set to hatch on Monday. The broody is still sitting, so I may try to graft them on her after they hatch, but we'll see. I'm not sure what caused her to lash out at me, the nest box and the eggs. It was late at night when it happened. I was walking the dog and heard this big commotion. She was in there pecking at the eggs and nest box walls. Oh well, my thrown together incubator seems to be doing the trick. They've been in there since day 8.
