LOL was thinking that but wasnt going to say it! I'm getting mine some crickets this week. My girls need a special treat. I think they're already missing the roos.

We gave our babies a couple of crickets we came across while working in the yard and OMG....it was the funniest thing. We laughed so hard at the two that had the cricket while the others went crazy chasing them trying to take it away.

It's ok to give my 5 - 6 week old chicks earthworms? They'll split them up? I found a bunch when I was digging out a garden yesterday an so badly wanted to bring them in for the girls. I was just worried they'd choke or something slurping long worms up.

Above post too funny, I needed that laugh this morning...

My niece brought over some crickets last evening and my month old girls had a ball. They were too cute chase, step, and tear apart.

my advice, for the crickets, is if you don't have many in your yard, get them from a pet store. I was told that you never know the conditions of the crickets or bacteria those carry or worse, parasites they could have, from a bait shop. I am sure others may have their own opinions on that, but I was always advised to buy them from a petshop. my pet shop sales them $1 per dozen. I like to get the big ones for my little ones to rip apart. but the smaller crickets will make the chicks work for dinner, because they chase them lol.. it is the funniest site, and easy entertainment for sure.

Oh they are plenty old enough . . . they suck them down like spagetti.

Ewww...guess I'll have to get used to seeing that. Don't know what that grosses me out but I don't have a problem with the crickets or mealworms.
