Feed and Water in the Coop??

I keep feeders inside the coop (I also have feed dishes outside for my geese that the chickens get into too

) I have one heated dog dish and two galvanized heated waterers outside. I stopped keeping water IN the coop because of the humidity it created and the mess when they spill it.
I do not have the waterers in the coop also because of the fire risk with the heated bases. I think it is preference and also if the water is kept outside, how early they have access to it is important as well. One day my DH (who lets the birds out at 5 30 am ) overslept and they didn't get water until about 9 30 am. This slowed egg production for a couple of days!

I keep water inside and outside the coop...feed inside. When the weather prevents early release of hens from the coop, they have food and water immediately. Besides, there ain't no rules with chickens...do what you want. You will find your own way...ask questions...then pick the answer that suits you the best. No rocket science involved.
