Feed bill....opinions please ?

I have over 200 chickens and I buy my feed at the mill. RIght now I am paying roughly 8.00 for a fifty pound bag I usually buy 1500 pounds at a time I would buy more but the truck only hauls so much lol I could not do it without the mill. They get a higher grade of fresh feed and its costing us roughly 5.00 less per bag than buying it locally at the feed store. I have paid as little as 6.00 a bag during the summer but prices have just gone thru the roof again here. If you are looking for a feed mill in your area just google poultry feed mills in your area and you might be surprised how close and how much cheaper it is to buy direct.

I also get my food at a mill. What are they mixing up for your feed? My mill will do anything I want but I want to keep the cost down as well. I have over 200 chickens too !!!
They are costing me more than my 6 horses and 3 donkeys and they are not on pasture yet (more fencing-just one of the many other projects on the list) Although I am getting a good price on hay right now.

I'm spending about $45 a week for 65. Half bantams half LF, mostly Cornish (and man do they pack it away!). Cutting down to just breeding birds and what I show in Shawnee by December. Hopefully that will be 30ish.

Just in time for new fuzzy butts--and the feed bill will skyrocket again!

Looks like a good excuse to me to go out and buy a nice brand new Dually !!!

But then you'd have to sell the chickens to use the feed money for a truck payment !!! Then you wouldn't need the new truck !!! :barnieThink I might use that excuse to my husband !!
