Feed date Question

Almost always, I buy Back Yard Basics Layer or Unmedicated Starter. The price is usually about $2 less per bag than their Home Fresh line. Several times/year, I get a coupon for a free bag of feed (frequent shopper program) and will usually get a multi-flock then.

Blue Seal is located throughout my state. I assume that the manufacturer (Kent) sells nationally, but have never researched that. Of course, some stores most likely have a higher turn over, and better management. So, while I have good results at my store in Bangor, inventory at a little back woods Blue Seal may be "older than dirt and twice as dusty".

It's a farm and garden store. They've done a recent expansion, put in a side building dedicated to alternative gardening, mostly aqua and hydroponics. So, it's not your typical box type farm and garden. They often have baby goats for sale.

Sounds like not a 'chain store'.

Hey I just checked out(called) a local Blue seal supplier They said they carry the Blue seal poultry products. I'l have to check it out some evening. It would be nice to have another option if required.

If the date isn't on the end of bag seal, or the guaranteed analysis tag, the manufacturer should be able to tell you from the lot#. The first 4 numbers on the tag could be a date. 5128 could be May 12, 2018.
The manager of the store where you got it should be able to provide it as well.
Purina usually has it on the seal. Nutrena and ADM have it stamped on the tag. ADM uses the Julian date.
