feed experiment

completely off topic bossroo, but to answer you; that's why I live in Idaho!
I'm looking for shares regarding what others might see as a meat bird feed experiment given the opportunity to have four seperate pens available.

I posted this fear of a law suit as my wife and I were in a small restaurant for breakfast a couple of days ago, where my wife ordered her eggs sunny side up and runny as she likes to put the egg on her toast. she cooks her eggs that way almost daily at home. The owner/chef refuses to cook it that way for fear of a salmonella law suit. The server even pointed out that statement printed on the top of their menu. So, forwarned... experiment away !

I would be interested to see this outcome. Most of the feed experiments done here only cover very small changes over very large amounts of birds, and not so much what the average person would have access to. I did broilers in 4-H, and the amount of "magic mixtures" I was told by other contestants was amazing. Perhaps you could test a few of those next (eg. buttermilk vs corn meal vs bacon drippings, or turkey starter vs broiler starter mixed in the previous ingredients).

Be sure to keep track of price for the feed as well, so you can figure out the price per pound of meat. The scraps may not make the birds as large, but if you can get a better price to production ratio this would be great for those of us just wanting to fill our freezers.

thanks, that is what I was thinking too. Care to share any ideas for magic mixtures . . . I'm not much of one to do things without a reason . . . like what is buttermilk supposed to do as opposed to goats milk (same question for OACV????)

Sorry didn't mean to say to send the scraps to the lab, just include what they are, the beans, what kind (so we could figure out the protien/fat) same with cheese, meat type, if its low fat or regular yogurt etc to better understand what they are eating rather than just "mexican food" or "italian".

lol, I know, I was joking
