Feed flustered...

Why the minimum and maximum percentages? What number do you look at when deciding on a feed? The min or max?
Most Hens do good on an 18 to 20% ration and I supply calcium extra by oyster shell only...Limited treats to once a week and all my Birds are great...

How much of the oyster shell stuff do you put down? Do you put it in a separate dish? Do I need to hang it like the other feeder? Do you even put the oyster stuff in a feeder?

I give my hens a handful once in a while, they barely eat it.
They only eat it if they need it, so I think a handful every once in a while is good enough.

I put the oyster shell out in a separate bowl...I have a hanging feeder..I also use rubber livestock bowls for water up on bricks...Chickens are not picky as long feed and water is provided at all times...

I also feed Flock Raiser. As mentioned already, it has 20% protein, and 1% calcium. Layer feeds usually have around 4% calcium, like the bag you bought. The additional calcium is necessary to make egg shells. I have roosters and ducks that don't need that much calcium. I leave out oyster shell in a separate bowl. The layers will eat what their bodies need, the others will leave it alone.
