Enjoy your birds and just don't overthink things.
X2, Sorry if I caused confusion when I suggested starting them on a grower. My rational was that we don't know what they were eating before the rescue and a protein boost would be beneficial. Your layer is fine. I put out a bowl of oyster shell and a bowl of grit for mine. They don't use a lot of the grit as they find it on the ground and appear to like the bigger natural stuff better. So don't panic if you see them eating rocks. And BTW, you're doing a great job with them.:thumbsup

Okay...I put oyster stuff in a separate 2-bowl cat dish. At first they went to it...but they don't seem to be paying any mind to it. I've been trying to read up on all this stuff so I can provide the best care for them. Not knowing their age is really a problem as everything I read is based on how old they are. :he

Calcium is nightmare... Good if they are older, kidney failure if they are too young... What do I do there???? :barnie

Phew... Is there any way to tell how old they are by looking at them? I can provide pictures if you can. Just tell me what part of the chicken to zoom in on and we'll have a photo shoot after work. :)

I seen your thread on them...they look like about ready to lay ... around 20 -24 wks or so I would think
Well...everything is ready (I hope)! Fluffy nesting boxes (that I fluff daily) complete with golf balls! Oyster stuff at the ready, vitamins in their water and a full feeder. :)
