I have chicken Feathers and Eggie and they are 17 weeks old- about to start laying! I will put them on a mixture of Layer's feed from Foodland (it smells of raisins and has lots of seeds and corn)and Cleaned Wheat, they will get grit from the stuff they eat in the garden (they free range all day). Will that diet be OK for good eggs or do I need anything else?

Thanks, just wondering. I want my chickens to be healthy and lay good eggs!

That sounds like a good diet to me!!

I feed my chickens lay crumbles and scratch. They also get a lot of left overs and free range a lot of the time!

Will these be your first eggs?

Wow, I don't know that we are even offered such a sumptuous repast for our girls up here.

Congrats... 3 more weeks and they'll be laying.

Hey everyone

Yes this will be the first time they have layed.
I feed them plenty of scraps- bits of my meal I don't want, other scraps, almost EVERYTHING except hard vegetables. They absolutely Love chicken, meat and egg, and eat lots of bread/pancake/biscuit/potato etc. I even feed them fruit and ice cream.
