I appreciate the info about feeding scratch. Didn't know that it raised the body temp. I mixed it in with egg crumble and corn. I'll keep doing that for now 'cause cooler weather is coming on. I also mix in food grade DE with my feed and feed only non-medicated feed. I put it in my 30 pound galvanized feeder in the chicken house. I crumble egg shells up real fine and keep a little oyster shell available. They are laying to beat the band! I have 2 roos and 9 hens. 5 cats. 1 dog!!

Sounds like you're doing a great job. I don't bother with shell as my birds all free range from dawn until they decide it's time for bed, but I do give them corn. I always have done, and I've never yet had any problems. In fact, everyone who keeps chickens in Thailand feeds them corn, and this is one very warm country, and yet the corn causes no issues.
