Anyone else notice these crazy increases? I cant buy organic anymore for my chickens it’s insane how much it went up, almost 7 dollars. This world is psycho

I KNOW it’s insane and I couldn’t buy baby chick food yesterday, they were all out. I ordered it online and I’m glad I always do when I’m at half a bag so I still have a bunch left for them

Of course we notice.
There are lots of contributing factors and it will go up much more in the next year.
I went from $11 for a 50# bag of all flock feed about 3 or 4 years ago to about $20 now.
The pandemic was a big contributing factor. Supply chain, fuel costs, lack of drivers and now the war in Ukraine. Ukraine was the breadbasket of the former Soviet Union. That is signified by the Ukrainian flag. The blue top and golden bottom represent the blue sky over the seas of grain.
Grain is a global commodity like oil is. Ukraine is the #3 exporter of wheat in the world and the #4 exporter of corn. Most of that goes to China, Africa and the Middle East but since they won't be growing grain this year, that grain has to come from other countries like the US, Australia and Canada.
Because they know they will need the food themselves. The government of Ukraine has banned all exports of rye, wheat, millet, barley, sugar, salt and meat till the end of the year.
Global commodities markets have priced much of that in. Hence the already witnessed rise in feed costs.

Yes, and this Ukraine thing is so sad, one of my best friends just got sent over there. i remember when ofor started got chickens I was paying 16 for a 45lb bag of organic but times change

They can eat goat food? i didn’t know that! I payed 13
last time for the food I got them and a month later it’s 17 and yea, organic is off the table. I’m selling chicks now instead of eating the eggs. Since it’s the “chick season” it’s good money

Our here went from 23.95 for 40 lbs is 30.95 now .. We use a mash good for the rooster also..
