I too use Manna Pro, and I drive a LOT farther to get it than if I was purchasing just any old brand. I could purchase Az Feeds on the other side of Tempe, 6 miles away. The feed quality is crap. I could purchase Purina at Mesa Feeds, 8 miles away; don't care for Purina. I could purchase Kelley at Rays Feed 10 miles away. I could purchase Kruse at Higley Feed, 12 miles away. I purchase Manna Pro at The Feed Barn, 26 miles, 45 minutes away.

Sounds like dedication to me. I would also drive further to get the best. I just hope that they will carry the grower/finisher food and not just the layer and I also just started using the pellets because I don't want my geese to get choked on the crumbles.

Thanks for your input.

It is a flock raiser--can be used for turkeys, gamebird & waterfowl as well as chickens (grower, developer, layer and broiler). Unmedicated, 16% protein.

Wow I hope i can find the grower/finisher then. I think I would like to try it to see. I like the 16% protein for my geese. I also use the purina flock raiser and mix it 50/50 with the SS food now for my chickens.

Thanks

What is it about Manna Pro that causes you to drive so much further to purchase it?

Thank you. I know it is wierd that we are excited because in the beginning I didn't want one to come here. I was afraid that they would put the little MOm & Pop stores out of business and I still hope that this won't happen. But of course we had to brave the huge crowd and the store was wonderful. HUGE! It is so funny. I usually pay under $12 for the SS food I use now so that is def a great price. I am sorry that you have to pay such a high price for such a small bag of food. Where are you located?

Sometimes Wally World cant compete with Mom and Pops especially when the M&Pop stores know me by name! I live in SC and have to get my chick feed from Tractor supply, as my feed and seed store was sold out the last 3 times i went for baby chick food! they have plenty of the adult chicken food though!

Well, it smells FRESH, and looks fresh. Most of the others look and smell like stale sawdust. The ingredients: for example, the chick starter's first listed ingredient is wheat, not corn (although that is 2nd). It is not the absolute best feed ingredients I have ever seen (that would be an organic feed that is quite expensive and must be mail ordered), but it is far better than other choices that are available to me.

I also very much like the store; very friendly owner who supports the local poultry club, knowledgeable staff, well stocked both with feeds and supplies.
