feed question

That's true, it does, but it also has more protein levels so they have more protein and strength to grow all their feathers and grow up.

What's she saying is the " medicated " part is medicine for coccidiosis, chicks are susceptible to it.You can get " un-medicated" chick feed , that's what I use.

The percentage of protein can be different it each food ,

I feed 20 % protein feed to my chickens from birth til death , I just add oyster shells once they lay , it's just easier this was with multi ages in a flock

Welcome!

You might want to also pop in and say hello on your local thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you ‘Find your State’s thread.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out

thanks everyone for the helpful information, greatly appreciated :)
I bought five black sex links pullets. I've had them for a week now, they seem to be doing well, eating, drinking and scratching away.
