Hi. I am fairly new to chickens, but my barred rocks look just like your black & white one. Also, I have 4 Arauccana chickens (3 hens and 1 roo) and my hens look very much like your other chicken. Araucanas have a pea comb and come in all different color patterns apparently. My girls all look like each other, but the roo is very different. They all have a "fuzzy" face though. Kinda like fuzzy checks if you know what I mean. However, mine have darker legs. Anyway, just my guess, but yours sure looks a lot like my girls. Wish my USB port wasn't busted so I could take a pic and show you.
Good luck!
Oh forgot to add although you may already know, Araucana's lay a blue-green egg and are sometimes called Easter Egg chickens. Mine are very curious, and follow me everywhere, but don't like to be petted or held. If that is what you have, you will know for sure if the eggs come out blue-green. (since yours looks like my girls, I think it is a girl, but I am not an expert!) We ordered 4 Araucana females this past spring and even though the one never looked like the other three the poor thing had to finally crow before I believed that McMurray had mis-sexed my order!
Hello I am new to this site..... I have a chicken that my husband and I have no idea what kind it is.. I am at work right now but as soon as I get home... I will try to get a good picture of this bird.. Maybe you all could help...
Dnrreed- Your hen is so beautiful! I love those colors. She's probably an Easter Egger but I'm not familiar enough with those EE, Americauna, etc etc. birds. All the differences are confusing to me!
And I know that white ear on your roo will narrow his breed down, but I'm not sure which breeds have the white ear.
Now I'm wondering why I even bothered to post!
I saved the pic and zoomed in, the black and white one looks like it has a rose comb to me, but it could be just blured, ide love to see a better shot of its comb.
