Well, when you go into the feed store and the bins with the chicks are labeled "Buf Orffantands" and "Road Island Reds" that should be your first clue that you are pretty much on your own.

The smaller the feed store the more they know.

This is so true, the big feed stores don't know anything, but the little ones seem to know a lot more about them.

I have a silly question, the chicks that are not purchased at the end of every week before the new batches come in.... do they cull them?

Wilco had 5 week old chicks on sale yesterday for 50c so I don't think so....... My local feed store in Jefferson still has some Delawares that came in as couple day olds, they are 6 weeks old now!
