I got my pekins last may, so they are way over 18 weeks old, and Layena is suppossed to be used once they reach that age. Layena and flock raiser are from purina and is the only brand the store carries. when the ducks turned 18 weeks old, i asked for Layena. the lady said no. that flock raiser was better for them. i responded saying that they were over 18 weeks old and needed layena. she refused and went and got the flock raiser. ever since, the store refuses to give us layena! i say i need purina mills layena sunfresh recipe and they respond with "no, it says on the computer you get flock raiser." i try to explain how we need layena now, not flock raiser, and they always say no! i know they have it because i have gotten it once and i can see it outside in the stacks they have. why won't they give it to me and will it hurt my ducks to give them flock raiser instead since thats all we get?

Take your business elsewhere. Who's the customer here???

I think you can go to Purina's site and find a dealer near you.

Call the company and explain your problem, then send someone else in and ask for what you need. See what she does to them. I would be reminding her that AIM the PERSON paying for the feed and she will be selling it to me or we have a talk with her boss or a judge Ask her how she feel if she went in to buy feed from the company that sell her the feed and they said no you can only have x type feed, it better for everybody.

Ditto. That is very strange.

I would never shop there again. Remember you are paying for this product! If they can't supply you with it, find someone who will.

its the only place close by. the lady that refused at first isn't there all the time, but she must have put something in the computer because i say Layena, they ask for my name and then they say, oh no you have to get flock raiser.

Check the price of the two products, Flockraiser used to be more expensive... I gave up up on Purina when they wouldn't sell me starter feed. Flockraiser probably won't do any harm but you would need to supplement calcium (Oyster shell is the classic) to keep up good egg production.
In our town a new fancy walmart type feed store got the exclusive right to sell Purina taking it from older dealers so they brought in new lines. It just took a little research to find the type of products I wanted.
