feed store refuses to give us layena instead of flock raiser?

We tried out pellets with our mixed flock once. The chickens wouldn't touch it and neither would the ducks. The lady at the feed store suggested it because they are supposed to waste less and it costs the same here. They wasted the same amount and wouldn't eat it until they got so hungry they had too.

INSIST That they sell you what you want and while you are at it remind them that you and ALL of your friends are the ones who make thier paycheck happen. If need be make a feed pool (kind of like car pool) where you and several others all send somebody with a truck to another feed store. You may all be able to save some money too by doing this and buying in quantity. I also think that Purina would be interested to know how thier product is being sold.

I give duck pellets to my ducks, they won't eat the crumbles unless they are hungry. My chickens get the layena and sometimes the ducks will eat that, most time the chickens will eat the duck pellets first, than their own food.

The next time you go, you should show her on the bag of flock raiser that it says to change them over to Layena at a certain age, then see what she says. That is a bunch of bull-ony imo.

My ducks and geese get Flock Raiser with the addition of whole red wheat and whole oats to it.

I also give them Mazuri Waterfowl Maintenance Feed (by Purina). It looks like dog kibble but it floats so you can feed it to them in their pool/pond. The ducks absolutely love eating it in the water.

if you're not getting what you want, tell management what's going on. ask to speak to a supervisor. call Purina and tell them what's going on. i hate it when and individual worker presses what he/she thinks of says that if the computer says it that's the way it should be. you can also bring some friend who need to buy the same thing and have all of you at once request layena. it's worked for me, but this lady who won't give you what you want sounds like an all-round B!TCH!

I would go ballistic if a store clerk refused to sell me what I asked for. How dare she? Really, who does she think she is?

I would immediately ask for the store manager, and no way in hell would I buy what this idiot was trying to FORCE me to buy!

I live outside a very small town. On any given day I can drive in a 40 mile radius and find all different kinds of feed stores. Why you haven't shopped around is really the point? So what if you have to drive a bit further for just your feed. If you are not happy with the situation at your feed store than find a new one and purchase only what you want. No one would stand for a grocery store clerk telling you what you can buy to eat verses something you didn't like, so do the same thing for your ducks. Go find a feed you are happy with and a store with better customer service plain and simple. I would have never stood for it in the first place.

I think any time you make a major change to feed the flock is going to avoid it. I am lucky because I always had a "Mikey" bird like in that old Post's Life Ad where two kids don't want to try the new food "let Mikey try it, he will eat anything" So Mikey tries it and likes it, end of story. My Mikey bird was always the first to try new feeds If Mikey likes it the rest of the flock would eat it, if not I would have to starve them into eating the feed.

if they have a book with all the feed in get them to take it out and show them the difrence between the 2 feeds. if that doesn't work keep on asking untill they give it to you. iam luky a perousn that i know works at a feed store i go to. And in the other one i got un-mtced feed for 13.?? with tax because the compen that my dad works for ones the store so he get's a discount yay i am geting a nother bator my mom don't konw that i plan to yet. you shold get to know your feed store implees it helps
