I couldn't imagine how I would react if someone tried to tell me I couldn't buy what I wanted for my chickens !!!!!

I have been known to act like a "redneck" a time or two in my life

they haven't done anything wrong but they are selling baby pekins again this year about the time ours should hatch, and we can only keep two so we were gonna give them the babies to sell. we got our pekins from them last year.

As for that feed store clerk, I'd definitely have a conversation with the owner, if it isn't her - and I'd also tell Purina what went on, I'm sure they don't want their distributors acting like that. Whoever suggested it was more profitable for them to force you to use one type over another is probably right.

Could this be happening because of your age? Do they realize its for your animals? They may think you are there picking up grain for your parents and do not want to send you home with wrong type.
