Feed switch and limping ????

Sounds like the water situation is all good then.

I would see how they go with the vitamins...but if it continues then I would change the feed back to the Dumor. It's possible that something has been added to the new feed by the manufacturer in a quantity that was too high....it can happen. It might be worth contacting the manufacturer to see if any other problems have been reported.

Make sure they are getting plenty of fresh greens too - that will help balance out the protein.

Let us know how they go!

By greens do you mean lettuce and stuff like that? I will have to go grocery shopping tomorrow for them

have to get carrots for the bunnies....might as well get some groceries for the ducks LOL

What product at TSC has niacin in it? I've been adding brewers yeast along with rooster booster a probiotic(sp). Would be nice to find an all in one.
Thanks

I've searched for it on their site and can't find it. I'm not sure if it's just our TSC that has lol I wouldn't think so but maybe

I found it in the poultry section, it was near the NutriDrench. In a small white bottle that says Vitamin/Electrolyte Solution (or something like that) I think its made by "Durvet?" It has a picture of a horse, pig, ect on it. Costs $5.99

Wow that's really strange! I thought the only thing you had to worry about with food at that age was angel wing. To much protein could cause angel wing, and extra calcium for egg laying. I cut my flock raiser with oats to solve the to much protein problem.

I was reading that someone had stopped using the Dumar for some reason. I wish I could just get duck food some where so I wouldn't have to worry about the feed. I hope you figure out what's going on with your drakes. That's so strange that it's just the males.

I found it on the Durvet website....this is what it is. Has worked wonders for me with my duck that I rescued with a severe case of niacin deficiency. She went from not being able to walk at all, to walking in about 3-4 weeks

You will have to look in your TSC to see if they carry it...if not and you want it, ask them to order a few bottles for you. And when you start getting low have them reorder more. At our TSC they are $5.99 a bottle

Never thought about adding oats to cut protein ?? And we thought the same thing. It's only affecting the boys. Right now it's the khaki thats limping. It only lasts about 2-3 days and then they seem fine. I thought maybe growing pains

lol I have no idea

Yes, that's exactly what I mean :) Anything green and leafy.

Which is better? Iceburg or that other lettuce (the stuff with spinach and dandelion leaves in it)? LOL Am I over thinking it a little? Better get some peas too! Have yet to give them some of those tasty green round things! BAD duck momma!

You can certainly add rolled, crushed or hulled oats, if you want to. Just don't add whole oats - they are big and kinda spiky.

But adding lots of greens will also have the effect of cutting protein, along with adding lots of nice vitamins. You can chop the greens up and put them in a bowl of water. They will enjoy dabbling for the pieces.

There has got to be a reason why it is affecting the males only...but I have no idea what that reason might be. Most strange!

What? No peas yet??????????

Probably the mixed salad leaves would be good. Things like dandelion, chicory, kale, also young grass chopped up - all those are good. Mine love Asian style greens like bok choy (don't know if you call it that in the US) and they are often cheap too.

Another probably stupid question, is it ok to give ducks tomatoes? I ran into someone today that said they feed their ducks tomatoes now and then? If so I'll have to get some of them too, she said hers love them.
