Right now my chicks are on chick starter. When they are of similar size to adult birds I plan on mixing them in the flock. The babies are mostly Jersey Giants so they will be big fairly young, and my adults are smaller standards and bantam. When I introduce them should I feed everybody starter, laying pellets or a mix of the 2? It would not be practical or easy to keep them separated until full maturity.
 
Here's what I do which really doesn't answer your question but has simplified my life.
I feed a high protein [22%] game bird crumble from the day they hatch 'till the day they die. Got the idea from a very successful breeder. I've been doing it for several years now with great success. When & how to transition is no longer an issue.
Try it-you'll like it.
