i was wondering,,how many times a week can i give my chickens treats, like stuff from the garden all,,,,,,and what do u feed your chickens,,,mine love sweet potatoes,,,,, they are getting grit and starter with med,,and some with out,,i try to mix,,is this ok to do,,they are 8 weeks old today,,,i moved my rooster with the problem and i dont think he likes it,,,im going to try and fatten him up some,,i gave him a boiled egg this morning and he loved it with a side of fresh strawberrys

You can offer then greens and veggies everyday. It is good for them. And if they can not free range, then it is good forage for them. My girls wait for their veggie plate each morning and pout when it does not come!

Your chicks can probably go without the medicated feed at this point, and mixing in non medicated is good. You can leave them on the medicated feed until laying time or switch them now. They should be past the danger point.

It's normally recommended to switch them to layer feed at 18-22 weeks or when the first hen lays her first egg, whichever. I recommend cutting back on the treats since they are still developing internally. Kinda like kids in the candy store wanting all the treats they can get. Continue with starter/grower feed til the time warrants switching to layer feed.

A lot of times young birds will sleep on the floor, so don't be concerned, they will roost when they are ready. Feeding too much stuff other than a grower feed will unbalance their diet, and may affect their growth. Layer feed should not be fed until the chicks are close to 5 months old, as the higher calcium levels can damage growing kidneys.
