everyone. Have a great morning. How is everyone's hatches coming along.

I have a little project that I am hatching out. One of the breeds that I am working with is cream legbars. Because the roos have matured to sexual maturity before the pullets have, I had to add some of my laying flock hens to take the presure off the immature pullets. I added a black-based EE and three RIR hens to this bunch. As expected, this has kept the young roosters busy and off the immature cream legbar pullets.

So while checking fertility, I decided to see what would hatch out of this combination. All 5 CCL x EE and 9/12 CCL x RIR are progressing nicely in the incubator as of day 8. I would like to see if the autosexing trait of the CCLs will transmit to other breeds/crosses. It is also probably another source for developing EEs as well since CCL naturally lay a medium blue colored egg. If the blue egg gene is indeed dominant in CCLs as it is in ameraucanas, then the cross should produce a hybrid that produces large quantities of large blue/tinted eggs (for the CCL x RIR cross). It would also be interesting if some selective back breeding could instill the autosexing trait. The challenge of course would be to determine whether the crosses present sex-link versus autosexing traits.

I got all 3 coops cleaned. I have one pullet in quarantine, new to my flock. She looks so depressed

it just makes my heart sad.
Also got both brooders cleaned, 2nd load of laundry washing, just finished a batch of home made laundry detergent. I have emvicks eggs on lockdown starting today. Then my last 4 chocs from Pips due to hatch the 7th.
And yes Pips&Peeps does an awesome job packaging and fast shipping.
My 1st set seemed to fair a lot better than this bunch. But I will be so thankful for what I get. I feel very fortunate to get to hatch some of these chocolate silkies. I hope to continue on with a chocolate project.

You are busy. I am on vacation from a long summer of 7 days a week and 12 hour shifts, will not be making homemade laundry detergent, not that skilled. I just sent 3 CX's down the road for butchering, pretty good trade, they are butchering and cutting up my CX's and they got a very MEAN Dark Cornish rooster, a barred EE cockerel and 2 barred ee chicks, plus I get 2 bags of pine shavings

You go girl. I wish I could be a domestic goddess, I have to work and don't like it much. Maybe in about 15 years I to will be a domestic goddess or will that be a domestic granny
