Feedback on the current Like system...

I will finish reading this later, but wanted to throw my 2 cents in before I get off the computer. I actually turned off my alerts for my likes because I was getting so many of them on such random stuff, I don't care anymore, but with the ovation system, I got excited every time one came through and I checked to see if there was a comment and what had gotten me an ovation.

Honestly, I ignore it pretty much. I get 'likes' for silly or humorous comments that really doesn't help the OP but I can't resist it at times with the questions that are frequently asked.

I will admit that I haven't read every single post on all 14 pages, but I will say that as far as the "Like" button, I like this set-up for a few simple reasons....it allows for the poster to receive recognition of being noticed and welcomed into a conversation and not left standing in a corner without any response to them even being there. Whether ya totally agree with their actual statement or not, ya can appreciate their response. There is nothing worse than for a poster to feel leftout and of no value than to be at least acknowledged. However, I also understand the desire to reward more pertenent responses to an ongoing conversation. It seems that maybe the answer would be for there to be an "Ovation or Star" that could be added as a higher form of approval to be given for a valued posting. This would not leave new members out in the cold and the feeling of being ignored, and also provide a more valued mark for those that prefer that special notoriety of an extremly exceptional post. If tho, there is only 1 option, then it should remain as the present system is used.....that is how I see the issue....:)

That would be great! It would be even better if you could then somehow access a list of the ovation stars you have givin so that you could refer back to valuable information whenever you need it for yourself or to help another member :)
