I try and encourage newcomers to with a like. Hey, what happened to the "unanswered threads" icon which was up on the home page header? I really liked it. And was invaluable for finding folk in need of urgent help in off hours at BYC.

The 'unanswereds' are still there, you just have to hover over the ellipsis next to Search Forums. When you do that, you'll get a short drop down menu that gives a link to the unanswered posts.
