I have thirteen old hens that have stopped laying and I would usually process these for canning, but I have a whole freezer full of CX to be canned right now and no room for more.
I intend to kill a few each week and feed to my LGDs for a raw supplement to their diet. I've done this before and they do not equate the freshly killed and still warm chicken with the fluffy ones fighting for the scraps of entrails from their meal. They will snap at them merely because they are running off with part of their breakfast but they will not kill one. Never have.
