Hi, my family has had a pet turkey for a little over a year now and recently we've run into a problem feeding her.

In the morning when we feed her we'll find a bunch of rodent poop in her food bowl and she herself seems to hardly touch the poultry feed we leave in there (she's more a fan of the greens and corn we give to her once she's back in her pen for the day). She also roams the yard and grazes at her will.

Should we switch to a feeding plan where she eats in the morning and the evening instead of leaving the food in the pen 24/7 for the mice, shrews, voles, and chipmunks to eat? Or with winter on the horizon is it very important for her to always have access to food?

Any help would be much appreciated!

I always like for them to have access to food during the day. You can either pick it up at night or only put out what she will eat in a day.

You may want to set some traps, with winter approaching rodents are looking for a place to spend the winter.
