Feeding baby chicks.

I read somewhere that chickens don't overeat. I was wondering if chicks overeat. I have never raised chicks before.
They will not overeat. They will eat what they need and no more. They are wasteful of food tho'. They will walk in it, poop in it - some days it looks like they had a food fight in the brooder!
Remember to introduce them to the food and water, once they know where it is they are set. If you don't show them where it is they can starve to death :(
Use a small feeder - preferably one they can't walk in (they will still manage to poop in it).
Either use a very shallow dish for a waterer or use a chick waterer with some clean pebbles/marbles in the water. They have been known to fall in and drown...
Good luck with your babies :thumbsup

And check the mill date on each bag of food you buy! It will be somewhere on the bag, and you want it to be no older than one month, and use it up within another month if possible. Feed stores can be bad about rotating stock, and want it all sold regardless of it's age. Keep it in the original bag too, so if there's ever a problem, you have the lot numbers, etc, and can deal with it.
Chicks are fun! What do you have, or what are you getting?
