Has anyone given their chickens a turkey carcass and let them pick it clean?

The only thing I am worried about is them choking on small bones.

I give mine chicken and turkey carcasses and worry also that the small bones will choke them since they attack it with such mindless frenzy

(sp?) but so far so good. I quess that it could happen but so can a lot of other things so I'll still feed it to them and just keep an eye on them.

I just threw the wings in and it looked like Walmart on Black Friday at 5am! Look Out!!

My mom works at a school that had thanksgiving lunch on Tuesday. My birds get the leftovers.

There are 2 turkey carcesses(bones only now) out there that I need to pick up. They cleaned them over yesterday and today.

They will get the same a week or so before Christmas.

Warning: I do not give them anything high in salt like ham. I lost 2 girls two years ago when they pigged out on a Xmas ham. A couple weeks later they started shown signs of ascites(heart failure). It was the result of salt poisoning.

Is it possible to give them too much of the meat? Would too much protein hurt them, or would they know when to quit?
