how long will 50 pounds of chicken food last i have 5 bronwnw sex links. they are let out 3 to 8 daily. i try to feed them treats daily but dosnt always happen.

A 50 pound bag will probably last your five birds about 1 1/4 months. This assumes that each hen eats the average amount of 1/4 pound of feed a day.

I have silkies and it lasts them 2 months. So for your bigger chickens I would say 1 month would be a good guess.

When your chickens come inside to roost, do you have food and water in the coop as well as the run?

Quote: This really shouldn't make a difference as once the birds go to roost they stay there until the sun comes up the next morning. Chickens don't eat or drink at night once they roost. Most folks have feed inside in hanging feeders to keep it dry and water outside so it doesn't make a mess inside if it leaks.

I feed inside, and also provide water inside.Luckily my father is an experienced carpenter and I have a big walk-in coop.It really depends on if you have room in your coop.I know my silkies don't roost on a pole and will even get up and eat and drink at night,so just use your best judgement.:)
