The deer carcass is great protein for them. My little bantam rooster will fly into the yard while we're cutting up a deer ,just waiting for a tiny scrap to fall. He's under foot the entire time til we drop the carcass on the ground and he's in heaven.

the BAs line the fence waiting for us to throw the carcass over the fence, they will clean it to the bone!! Then I throw the bone carcass back over the fence for the dogs to finish it off.

Be careful eating any animal that eat raw meat. (mice, rats, hogs, chicken) They must be cooked proper because of Trichinosis. Reason there are laws forbidding feeding raw meat to hogs and etc.

So I dont think feeding raw meat to chickens is a good idea. Now feeding deer, beef, goat, guess would be safe as these dont eat meat. now poultry, pork ,raw would be bad,as we all know they eat mice and rats, which can carry Trichinosis...So if feeding these make sure it is cooked well.

Trichinosis is a very nasty disease, but it's mostly been eradicated in recent years. The restrictions on feeding uncooked garbage to hogs has been a big factor in eradicating it. I guess if I shot a feral hog, or a carnivore of some kind, I'd hesitate to feed the meat to any of my animals. Freezing meat that is infested with Trichina will kill it, as will cooking it to 160 degrees.

Yes thats my point, make sure you cook meat proper, poultry do eat meat, just like hogs. Rare beef is ok ,but not pork,or poultry.

Mostly been eradicated, until people go back to feeding raw or uncook meat to their animals.
