Feeding ducks=harassing animals?

This is true, but again, not an issue that should make it the business of the legal arena. I am sure ducks in parks sometimes go over by garbage cans to pilfer around them but that doesn't mean the garbage cans should be taken out of the park just because there are ducks there. Our court system is too choked up right now to properly deal with the real problems we have now and we don't have the prison space to house everyone who commits a crime. It would take just as much effort and cost and likely be far more effective to post a small sign that educated the public about how to properly feed the ducks for their own good than it does to post a scare tactic sign and abuse the law with it. This just sounds like one more way to abuse the American public to me and try to gouge them for fines to pay for the budget when what they should be looking to do is how to control their costs. I mean, seriously, if you can't go to the park anymore to feed the ducks and enjoy the scenery without a whole bunch of ugly signs telling you what to do and how much trouble you'll be in, what in the world can you do anymore for free??? What's next, a sign telling the children how baseball should be properly played on the field, and if they run too much and stir up the grass, the field will be closed?

I went over there today and fed Tom and the domestic ducks. At least one other person came and fed some cracked corn and I think there might have been a few junk food feeders, but otherwise it was pretty quiet. It has seemed to cut down the bread feeders so far. One lady I talked to has been feeding the ducks healthy food there for 40 years and isn't going to stop. But, she doesn't bring a whole lot, just a little bit of food.

I like the idea about putting up informational signs about proper duck/bird nutrition over telling people that you are harassing wildlife by feeding them. I would feel a lot better about the whole situation if they just had someone to actually care for the domestic stock everyday and deal with "drop offs".

Today, there was a game warden visiting the lake and I went and fed Tom and Curly right in front of the no-feeding sign. They made a huge mess and spilled most of the seed. I then took what's left and gave it to the other domestic ducks.

And, guess what happened?

Nothing!

I don't know if they didn't see me or didn't care. I think they were more concerned about people fishing without a license.
