Feeding egg shells

I read somewhere that powdered egg shells or too finely crushed loose calcium?? that doesnt sound right to me.. does anyone have any accurate information on this please?

Thanks for the info everyone! I'd rather do this than spend money on oyster shells.

Just make sure the break the egg shell to small pieces to prevent them eating the egg. I am doing that more many years and no problem.
