feeding guineas?

Sorry to change the discussion on this thread, after asking this I will back of the goat issue. PEEPS, I am feeding them about a cup and a half of sweet feed(for goat and sheep) in the morning and brush during the day, then about a cup and a half at night. do you think that is to much feed since they have only lived on brush and nothing else? I wrote down the other items you mentioned also. I am not sure the 2nd one is with kid but her teets are getting bigger. the one I am pretty positive. wtg on the $$$$ chingaching.... hope I do well at the auction on saturday as well.
I want some of your keets so bad... cant wait till you can ship to IL... I also have a sneaky one. she is coming out of the field but darn if I can find that nest. She is not sitting yet so

Southern Oaks... For your pygmies you may want to add some alfalfa/grass mix hay (if they aren't already getting it) and cut the grain by 1/2 cup each feeding until after they kid (or just the one kids), then bump the grain back up and maybe feed a little more alfalfa to support the nannie's milk production. You want them healthy, but not fat right before kidding time, or they run the risk of coming down with pregnancy toxemia. Free choice to goat minerals is always a good idea too (I better stop there, don't even get me started on the goat topic, lol). There's some good goat info over on the BYH goat forum, but it's kind of like this forum... you've gotta just take what's helpful to your situation and leave the rest, lol.

I think when/if I ever ship keets to you I'll be a basket case the entire time they are in transit... just shipping 30 down to deb in San Diego about wrecked me, lol. I'd love for you to have some of my keets tho, I know they'd be going to a good home

ME TOO!! ME TOO!!! I want some of your keets... but I'm with you also... I would be a nervous wreck. "What if they peep and the post office people decide to be mean?" "What if they get too cold?" "What if they get bumped and scared?"

Shoot, I drove 2 hours to get mine, and the whole way home I was unbuckling my seat belt to lean over to look in the box. Finally, I just told one of my kids (real children, not goats) to get up front so I could sit by them. Talk about stressed. I kept on telling my DH, "You're driving too fast. You slammed on the breaks. The radio is too loud. Did you just turn the A/C UP?? You're going to make them cold." I think he was so happy when we finally got home.

Ok, so on the shipping subject... My DH and I were talking about shipping eggs and babies. How do I find the rules and requirements to be able to do that? I'm not ready to start selling my animals' offspring, but I'm thinking of it down the road.

We have had chickens for years now, but when we hatched our first set of chicks... I became obsessed. I didn't really interact with my adults - feed them, water them, take out their eggs, make sure they are all put up at night, checked to make sure they were all ok... Then I saw my first chick push out of an egg... then they became these little fluff balls just running all over

... so, "Let's hatch another batch."

That was all because I ran out of room to house them - which I'm taking care of that issue soon.... adding ANOTHER chicken house and ANOTHER run...

Then I saw somewhere that I need to have someone come in and check all my animals for diseases - which I'm ok with.. I know they are healthy... but where does that information go? Who do they give the info to?

Where is all the information available to become someone who can ship eggs and/or babies?

Ok, and Peeps... YOU'RE HATCHING MORE?!?!?!!?!?!?

Thanks for the info PEEPSCA. I would give your children (keets) a wonderful home. But I understand how you feel about the shipping. But, if you decide to ship this way,,, my post office has called me before they even open when my migratory ducks were shipped. sooooo next year if you have the ability to ship,,, I will be wanting some..

by the way I want to see you hit 1000 too
