I am wanting to put my chickens on a healthy new diet and i have been looking at this brand it is a BlueSeal brand and it is grow and show. I am going to post the details about it below and tell me if it is good for a very healthy diet or for showing birds and for plumage. If you have anymore good brands please post them too!!

I do not show chickens so I do not know if there is anything special you should look for feed wise. However, for a grow feed, 15% protein seems pretty low. I personally would look for a higher protein percentage.

Yeah i was thinking that too...i was thinking more of a 22% or something but here is another brand i found i will post info below.

FEEDING DIRECTIONS: Mix with corn or other grains to make a diet for growing chickens and
for laying birds. See mixing direction on the reverse side of this tag. Maintain a clean, fresh supply of
water and grit available to the birds at all times. Birds in egg production should have a supply of oyster
shells for additional calcium. Birds require approximately 14 to 16 hours of light or day to maintain

maintain a clean, fresh supply of water along with oyster shells and grit for the laying hens. Maintain
the birds in a clean, dry, and draft free environment. For hens to lay at their genetic potential,
daylight or artificial light must be maintained at between 14 and 16 hours per day.
Do not feed Gold Standard Laying Crumbles to any laying hens or young growing birds for extended
periods of time because the higher levels of calcium incorporated into the feed for egg shell
formation may cause harm to the bird

If you can get it get the Golden Standard Layer, It is a better feed than the Blue Seal (since buckeye still uses animal protein) and you wont have to mix it with other grains like the Buckeye 40% concentrate.

The only Golden Standard that Buckeye puts out is the Golden Standard Layer Crumble.
