My 10 week old silkies are currently spending time free ranging with my silkie hens and all is going great but I'm yet to introduce them full time due to their different pellets (grower and layer) is it possible to feed them both the same so I can introduce them full time, say offer them all grower and supplement the hens with other sources of calcium?

I ALWAYS feed a flock raiser crumble that has 20% protein and offer oyster shell on the side for layers. I do it because I always have someone who doesn't need the added calcium of layer... broody's, chicks, cockerels, roosters, juveniles, molters, and so on.

In other words... the answer to your question is yes. :thumbsup

And your hens will probably even show some condition improvement with the slightly more protein. :)

Wonderful! my Victoria will be very happy to hear this. Even though she didn't hatch/raise these chicks she gets a bit upset when I put them back into their pen which is one of the reasons I wanted to keep them together full time.
