This might be a dumb question but I have not had a rooster in a long time. When I did they slept in trees. But when my rooster moves in with my hens what does he eat?

Actually, I think that is a rather clever question! I wonder myself now. I only have hens and they eat layer pellets. Obviously a rooster wouldn't need layer feed! Wonder what do they eat

Last year one of my roosters moved into the coop after a storm. lol He stay there a week and eat layer feed and starch when they wern't out. But he got killed by a dog.

Its like life, the women get what they need, and the men get the scraps.

Roosters will eat layer, and if you try to give him rooster only food the women will take it, and if he is a good roo, he will announce that he has it and step back and let them have it, then when he is hungry will eat the pellets, so just skip the middle step and feed the whole group layer pellets(or crumble if that is your choice)
