Feeding keets

My TSC won’t order it for me so I had to order it thru Amazon. I put the chicks and keets on a piece of AstroTurf this morning, figured I could hose it off every day. Anybody done that? Having trouble getting hay at a reasonable price. Is there an age I could raise everyone together to safely before separating?

I put down bath towels for the first couple weeks. It gives them grip and no chips to eat. When I am done with them, spray them off with garden hose and then launder them for the next time. Works perfect.

I don't know anyone that's raised keeps before. We have 8 - we ordered 10 from TSC but 2 dies pretty quickly. We have them on a broiler starter that the feed store recommended. They are also in pine shavings, as recommended by the folks at the feed store. In the future we will definitely do things differently, but we're doing our best to keep them safe and healthy.
