Hi!
I am a first time chicken owner! I love my mini-flock (4)! I also have several parrots inside my home. At the end of the day I clean out the parrot feed dishes. There are lots of feed leftover...dried mango, papaya, raisins, coconut, pumpkin seeds, dried peas...I could go on for a while. My parrots are healthy. Can I feed the chickens the left over rations? Am I jeopardizing my chicken flock by giving them the parrot leftovers? I am open to advice from the experienced! Thank you for your help!

I would do it in a heartbeat! As long as it isnt rancid or spoiled..its will be FINE to feed them the leftovers! And they'll love you for it too!

I have an extremely intelligent.. rather foul mouthed Congo African Grey.. I always throw his leftovers to the chickens.. they love them

the other day I showed him one of the baby chicks I have in the house... asked him if he liked it.. he looked at the chick and replied "it goes PEEP!"

Those African Greys are smart birds! I've always wanted one but haven't because I know I wouldn't spend the time with one that it would need.

I have 4 parrots myself, and I feed my chickens the leftover food all the time. I use a lot of pellets for my parrots, and the chickens don't like them dry, so I soak them and get them soft ....... chicken frenzy!!!!! (Mostly fruit flavored pellets) I have also gotten into the habit of soaking the mixes with the split peas and dried fruits in them. My chickens just seem to enjoy them more when they are wet and soft.

I throw the leftover bird seed from my doves out there for them. Not an issue as long as everyone is healthy, IMHO.

Hi, I also have a parrots- a B & G Macaw, and a Love bird, I change their bowl of pellets on a daily basis--good to know that I can give it to the chicks when they get older. I hate throwing food away since it so expensive. But the parrots eat better when it's a fresh bowl of food. I use Zupreem pellets.
