Hi there, I have a problem. I have 3 hens. Two are 12 weeks and the other hen is 20 weeks and had started laying. I would like to give her laying mix but the other two would eat it. It's there a way to fix this or do I just have to wait? Thank you in advance

You could continue the grower feed and offer calcium (oyster shell) on the side for the layers.

If your currently feeding All Flock or Starter/Grower, you can keep all of them on that and have a dish of oyster shell for your laying hen. There is no need to switch feed, even after they are all laying, just keep a dish of oyster shell out for them. If you want to switch to a layer feed, after they are all laying, that's up to you.

X2, this approach is particularly useful to those who maintain mixed flocks(age, gender, production status)

Keep them on the grower with free choice calcium until they are all laying.

layer feed for young pullets is not the best for them since it can force them causing egg laying problems. After they are all laying, switch to layer feed but keep the free choice calcium out for them.

I use chick feeders for the calcium.

:thumbsup Good Job!

Thanks all. I'm just worried the younger ones will easy it and get sick
The oyster shell? Generally they give it a peck or two but lose interest in it, its only attractive for intake by birds actively in need of calcium....similar to our own bodies causing us to crave certain things in response to a need of a particular mineral or nutrient

In this situation I would feed all my hens grower with added calcium (oyster shells) on the side for the layers.

They will eat as much of the shell as they need, and leave the rest. So it shouldn't be added straight into their feed.
