FEEDING QUAIL

I was thinking about getting quail and I was wondering if I can feed the quail babies 'chick starter' (but the kind for chickens) and if I could feed the quail adults 'layer feed' (but again the kind for chickens) My thing is that my parents (and my self) won't go for it if I have to get a special feed for them, plus I don't think my feed store has any. Any thoughts? Or tips?
What I get is game bird starter for my quail. The big thing with quail is protein. It needs to have at least 24 percent protein.

Have you found a non-medicated game bird starter? Every bad of started I find is medicated. Medicated feed is known to cause sterility in male quail from what I've gathered.

My local tractor supply is not very local... Farm and Fleet is closer, but they seem to only carry a lot of their poultry supplies during chick days, otherwise it's just the basics.
Maybe you could check online? See if you can find an online store or something?

My tractor supply don't carry game bird starter but they said they will order it in if I want to buy it. I also have another farm supply that will order it for me. Just got to ask.

I am currently mixing 20% protein wild game feed with a 40% protein poultry feed at a 2:1 ratio for what should be nearly 27% protein feed. The wild game feed has sufficient aminos and vitamins to support my quail chicks as well. It seems to be working well. I haven't weighed my birds, but they certainly have grown a substantial amount. They are getting big fast. Here's some pics for growth comparison.
